Villa Soleil is an exceptional 9 bedroom Premier Villa situated on the clifftops of Ferragudo in the western Algarve. Originally known as 'The House of the Princess', this magnificent property remains in the ownership of the Portuguese Royal family to this day. Perched above the coastline, the villa commands breathtaking west-facing views over Lagos Bay, extending towards Sagres where you can witness spectacular sunsets over the Atlantic Ocean.

From the villa's elevated position, guests enjoy panoramic vistas across the peaceful waters of the Algarve coast, watching luxury yachts departing from nearby marinas and traditional fishing boats passing by. Across the wide River Arade estuary, you can see the famous Praia da Rocha beach, one of the most popular destinations in the Algarve region of Portugal.

Villa Soleil has been completely refurbished and updated to modern standards whilst retaining its historic character and charm. The villa offers 9 bedrooms, all with en suite bathrooms, accommodating up to 18 guests across three floors. The house's original furniture has been carefully restored, and the bedrooms have been tastefully refurbished in a contemporary style. Many bedrooms feature the original beds incorporating the family coat of arms, adding to the villa's royal heritage.

Outside, extensive terraces surround a swimming pool that overlooks the sea, perfect for al fresco dining and entertaining. A downstairs bar and toilet are conveniently accessible from the pool area, which also features a poolside shower.

Staff and Services at Villa Soleil

D. Regina, the villa's dedicated housekeeper, has been employed at the property for over 25 years and served as housekeeper to the Princess until her passing. She arranges daily cleaning of the house on weekdays and ensures the highest standards are maintained. The property also employs a gardener, Sr. Porfirio, who maintains the beautiful grounds.

Meals

D. Regina or her staff can prepare simple dinners on alternate weekdays, with payment for time arranged directly. Guests are responsible for purchasing their own groceries.

Telephone

The house features an automatic internal telephone system with call costs logged automatically. Payment is made directly to D. Regina before departure. A deposit is required for telephone use, with additional payments requested if usage is high.

Air Conditioning

During the villa's restoration, air conditioning was deemed unnecessary due to the natural cooling sea breezes and Portuguese trade winds. The housekeeper adjusts shutters throughout the day to avoid direct sunlight, maintaining comfortable interior temperatures.
